Kerala, commonly known as ‘God's Own Country’, is a land of great natural beauty. Lush green landscapes, crystal-clear beaches and a network of waterways.
Kerala is also famous for its Ayurvedic therapies.
The treatments are known to be a popular way of keeping fit, as well as for physical and mental well-being.
In total, you will be staying in 3 different towns (Cochin, Backwater, Kudayathoor), and will have the opportunity to discover the cultural and natural riches of Kerala.
On the programme: ayurvedic treatments yoga sessions vegetarian cuisine, cruises and visits to heritage and cultural sites... A unique opportunity to take part in a refreshing and invigorating experience!
Detailed program
Day 1 : Arrival in Cochin
Traditional welcome at the airport by our representative and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day 2 : Cochin – Backwater (60 KMS / 2h)
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by road for Alleppey, where you will spend the night in a houseboat. Embark for a boat cruise on the backwaters, the famous canals lined with houses housing farmers working in the fields, alongside coconut groves and rice paddies. Lunch and boat trip on the backwaters of Kerala.
Aboard elegant rice boats, you'll cross a maze of rivers and canals that make up the backwaters, where land and water mix. It's a unique experience, close to nature and the local people, and you'll be able to discover how they live along the water. You'll discover, among other things, crayfish fishermen, school buses and the daily chores of housewives washing clothes and dishes. In the afternoon, take a leisurely stroll along the backwaters of Kerala. ‘Afternoon tea offered later in the afternoon. Stop in a typical village to mingle with the local population and discover village life.
The House boats, known as ‘Kettuvalom’, literally ‘knotted boats’, these traditional boats, made of anjili wood and coconut mats, offer simple comfort, but a cruise on board is a pure moment of calm and pleasure and a unique experience, which will enable you to explore India off the beaten track and discover villages, temples and ancient preserved churches. Each boat has a lounge with 1 small terrace, 1 kitchen, 2 to 4 bedrooms, each with its own shower room and toilet, air conditioning at set times, and the crew is on hand to help you. Dinner and overnight in the House Boat.
Day 3 : Backwater – Arrival at Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda Lake & Mountains in Kudayathoor (100 KMS/ 3-4 h)
After breakfast, departure for the Madukkakuzhy Lake and Mountains Ayurvedic Centre in Kudayathoor, Kerala. Traditional welcome at the centre. Installation in your rooms. Vegetarian lunch. Appointment with the Ayurvedic doctor and then you will leave for the first Ayurvedic treatment at around 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. You will then have your programme as follows:
4 P.M : Milk tea/herbal tea
5 P.M - 6 P.M : Yoga session
6:30 P.M : Dinner
Day 4 to 9 : Ayurveda stay at the Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda Lake and Mountains centre in Kudayathoor
A typical Ayurvedic day at the centre will look something like this:
06:30 A.M : Walking in nature
07:30 A.M : Breakfast
07.45am to 11am: Main Ayurvedic treatment
11:00 am : Fruit juice
12:30 P.M : Lunch
2.30pm to 4.30pm: Light Ayurvedic treatment
4 P.M : Milk tea/herbal tea
5 P.M - 6 P.M : Yoga session
6:30 P.M : Dinner
Day 10 : Kudayathoor – Cochin (100 KMS / 3-4 h)
After breakfast, departure for Cochin. On arrival at Fort Cochin, visit this beautiful district. Cochin is a coastal city with a rich colonial past, a blend of classicism and modernism, and a great place to stroll. The diversity of styles, atmospheres and cultures that emanate from this fascinating former trading post, where the Portuguese, English, Dutch and French came one after the other, lulls you to sleep! Three must-sees are on the programme: the Church of Saint Francis, the Dutch palace and the Jewish quarter, home to the country's oldest synagogue and old trading houses, warehouses and narrow cobbled streets. Free time at the local market. In the evening, a performance of Kathakalia costume drama, sung and danced, whose themes are drawn from the great Hindu epics. Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day 11 : Cochin – End of the Ayurvedic cure in India
After breakfast, departure and transfer to the airport.
