No, the snakes and scorpions come out during the very hot periods (July, August, September) when there are no treks because of the heat.
What are the temperatures like?
In December, January and February, it's cold in the mornings and evenings, between 5 and 7°C and 19 to 21°C during the day. March, April, May: from 18°C in the morning to 30 to 35°C during the day.
What level of ability is required for this Morocco trek?
This trek is not difficult, but it is important to have stamina and be able to walk 4 hours every day, sometimes in the heat, for a week.
What water will we drink?
The water you will be provided with is mineral water. You will fill your water bottle each day as many times as necessary.
What is the food hygiene?
Nomads are very careful about hygiene. They systematically clean their hands before touching food. All produce is fresh and washed before cooking. Meat is covered in spices to preserve it, which is how nomads do it.
What type of shoes should I use during the trek in Morocco?
What type of footwear should I use on the trek in Morocco?
The first thing is not to walk in new shoes to avoid blisters. It's best to use good trekking sandals, upper or lower hiking boots and socks. Sometimes blisters can appear as a result of rubbing and perspiration. Make sure you bring some compeed !
Can we shower during the trek in Morocco?
No, it's not possible to take a shower when you're immersed in the desert. However, on one day when we'll be passing a well, you'll be able to pour water over yourself while still dressed. You can take your first shower at the fixed bivouac on the last day. Each room has a shower. Bring your own soap or shower gel as they do not provide any. The
towels are provided at the fixed bivouac.
What about natural needs?
It's simple, you dig a hole in the sand, do your business, cover it with sand, and burn the paper.
What attire should I wear for trekking ?
A lightweight hiking pant will be perfect, along with a hat, cap, or headscarf, and a short-sleeve t-shirt for the hot periods. You will be in a Muslim country, which means it is advisable to avoid wearing skirts, shorts, transparent clothes, or t-shirts without a bra.
How do you get on with the nomads?
Always very good, they are cheerful, warm and caring people who will do everything to make you feel good. For information, for religious reasons, physical contact such as hugging is avoided... However, you are welcome to photograph them.
How comfortable will I be sleeping on the Morocco trek?
You will sleep in a 4-person nomad tent. On the ground, a mat + a mattress and a blanket per person. For those who sleep under the stars, the same thing, a mat, a mattress and a blanket. In cold weather, 2 blankets will be provided.
Is there network coverage in the desert, and can I charge my phone?
There is a network in some places, but you have to climb the dunes. To recharge your phone, you can use a solar battery (not supplied). However, the best thing to do is to disconnect completely and only use your phone for photos.
If you need to make calls from Morocco, you can buy an Inwi sim card in Marrakech, which costs 20 dirhams (the equivalent of €2) and lasts about a week for normal use.
